Since I stopped doing weddings a few years ago, I have been able to focus on what I enjoy most in photography. Whether it's called fine arts photography or something else, I like the freedom to go beyond a literal representation of what is being photographed. With digital photography and all of the editing programs available, it is easier to go beyond reality with your camera. The object should be to do something that you enjoy and that your clients appreciate. While I photograph people and places where I live and have lived in my life, I also enjoy photographing the same things when I travel. While some galleries consider photography to be a less pure art form than painting and sculpture, it is also one of the most important visual arts. For me it is the essence of art.
